Lala is shutting down

In October 2008, I posted something about Lala.com. And I just started using it in January 2010, a few months (or so) after the service was purchased by Apple. I did like it; buying mp3 from Lala is about 10¢ cheaper than Amazon and I get to hear the whole song to see if I want to really buy it.

Well, I got an email the other day… Lala is closing down on May 31.

Since Apple has bought it, probably they will offer “similar” service but of course, not as cheap. Oh well…

i feel like i’ve been used by people around me. sometimes, from asking for a favor (which by all means, it is fine) to making it a routine job i need to take care of every now and then. i don’t think i can do this any longer.

someone told me that i’m a nice person. some coworkers said i wad the nicest guy in the company, or at the least, the nicest graphic designer. but being kind and nice shouldn’t make me be the one being *asked for a favor* all the time.

it’s already a new year and i am hoping to become a better person. a person that don’t have to suffer running other people’s errands, especial those that aren’t my family member or those i consider friends.

yes, i hope i can do it…

where music plays

came across this site: lala.com today and i think it could be really interesting place to buy and listen to the music you like, if you *always* have internet connection.

the site offers a pretty cheap price for a song (10 cents) but you have to listen to it through their site only — that’s why i mentioned about the internet connection. but anyway, for 89 cents, you get to download the mp3 version to your computer. neat, eh?

what’s the name of that song?

i came across this online service, yes.com, yesterday while listening to live105 (radio station.) i don’t think yes.com is a new thing though. but i’m glad i found it so now i’ll know the name of the songs i like!

though you may listen to live105 via aol radio, which shows the name of the song. i tried that but it didn’t seem to be the same with whatever broadcasting on the actual radio. have no idea why.

html-to-pdf service…free!

came across this site today, html2pdf. if you need to archive some web pages into pdf, with links and such, this might be the one for you.

source: pc world site

just saw it on pc world site, mozilla has already announced the plan for firefox 3.0 (to be release by end of 2007).

firefox 3.0 also supports the cairo graphics library, which aims to make web pages look the same whether they are being printed or viewed on a windows pc, a macintosh, or a small-screen device. (from pc word)

if that’s true then it means there is a way to blend web and print into one. wow, this might change the way designers work on their projects.

normally, windows media player are the default player for many media files on the windows-based computers. and to make your life a bit easier, it integrates itself so that you can just right-click and play the music, add to play list, etc. this is fine if you use the software. but what if you don’t? other software like winamp gives people options whether to have this integration or not. but that won’t apply to wmp; there is no such options available!

but with simple steps, it’s very easy to take wmp out of the right-click context menu; here is how:

  1. click start
  2. click run
  3. type in regsvr32 /u wmpshell.dll
  4. click enter

that’s it. you have just said goodbye to wmp integration. to get it back? just type regsvr32 wmpshell.dll instead of the command above.

pretty easy, eh? well, this is not new. and i didn’t come up with this solution. here is where i got it from: information overload.
